"Paper" Towels!

Thanks to a suggestion from one of my readers, Julie, I made some paper towel replacements from old clothes - in this case old t-shirts. T-shirts are perfect because you can cut them up and they don't ravel. They're washable, but you don't feel too bad if you have to throw one away. Yippee!

Great, Sarah! I love homemade paper towels. I have some drying on my clothesline right now. :)

I'm getting ready to do this too, but I also bought some birdseye diaper fabric to make some of them with. It's very absorbant.

Hmmm, this might be a solution to all of Frankie's old t-shirts. We rarely use paper towels, and have quite a few muslins in prep for the baby, but perhaps this will change with time (and more frequent messes).

I just had to say, also, (now that Blogspot is finally letting me make comments) that I've gone back and read your whole blog and you are doing a great job. I'm impressed with the changes you've made in your life, especially with the young ones taking so much of your time. And your sharing of your experiences is sure to inspire others to do the same. You go, girl!

How are these towels working for you? Jersey shirts that I bought four years ago are starting to get little holes in them, so I either have to throw them away or make something out of them (I can't give them to a charity shop with holes).

Chickadee- thank you for your kind words!

Frau - They are working great! I hardly even notice we don't have regular paper towels anymore. Erik was slower to get on board, but I think he's coming 'round. :-) This is a great way to repurpose old t-shirts. You should do it!
